The Alaska Zoo
The Alaska Zoo has been in operation for 40 years. It started when a local resident won a contest, the prize was 3,000 dollars or a baby elephant. He chose the baby elephant! This was the start of the Alaska Zoo. The bulk of the animals at the Zoo are orphaned and injured animals that needed a home. The Zoo has grown and its mission has been to be a place people could see animals and learn about them. The Alaska Zoo has no local competition. The Alaska Sea life Center located in Seward, Alaska is over hundred miles away. Without any real competition I do not see USP as being a very strong marketing strategy, because there is not much to compare the company with. They have the monopoly on Zoos, and wildlife in general.
